The Unexpected Joy of the Ordinary: Join us for a discussion of this book, by Catherine Gray, which explores all the ways in which we can achieve deep, lasting happiness by recognizing the unexpected joys of our everyday lives. We’ll “reset” for the New Year by exploring the central lessons from the book and relating these to our own lives, reminding us how to be more present, to savor even the most mundane moments, and to cultivate joy and gratitude as a daily practice. Led by Rin Cutter and Pam del Pozo Waldroa. Located in the lounge, left side of the partition. (Available for Zoom participants.)
Lay-Led Worship – Helping Our Church Thrive: This session is for anyone interested in our lay-led services, either to get directly involved or just to learn more about this planning process and share ideas. We plan a lay-led service about once per month and through the summer, and this requires many hands and minds coming together to make each and every lay-led Sunday a meaningful experience. We’ll explore themes in the New Year, different formats for “bringing a service together,” strategies for selecting readings and music, and ways to be involved that don’t require one individual to create or lead a whole service. Led by Angela Audet. Located in the lounge, right side of partition.
Your Community and Political Action in the New Year: Do you desire to be more politically involved but don’t know where to start? What ideas do you have for improving your community, promoting democracy, and overcoming tyranny? Need ideas? Come be part of the discussion. Join us for the sharing of ideas and strategies for how to focus our time and energy in the New Year to promote the world we want to see.(Parker Prescott, Rick Glatz, and Liz Alcauskas). Located in the Fellowship Hall (downstairs).
