Want to Help a Veteran?

It’s easier than you think!   

Liberty House in Manchester serves between 150- 200 veterans per month.   They do not accept state or federal funding, and have a zero tolerance for drugs and alcohol.   A number of homeless vets qualify for transitional housing;  many more struggling vets from the community “drop-in” on any given day. Support services include a clothing closet,  food pantry, recreation, “vets helping vets;” referral to other agencies,  and socialization.
The current wish list includes:

  • Gift cards: Market Basket, Wal-Mart, gas card ($10 increment);  MTA bus passes;  Hannaford
  • Clothing:  Men’s boxer shorts,  gym shorts, outdoor shorts; men’s sneakers;  steel toe boots.  PLEASE NOTE: no current needs for shirts, pants, belts, or jackets.
  • Food items:  tuna fish;  canned chicken;  Chef Boyardee canned pasta; peanut butter;  jelly;  cereal.

Items can be left in the large box in church lobby at entrance.  Gift cards & bus passes can be mailed or dropped off in an envelope marked Edna White / Liberty House, placed in Social Responsibility mail slot.
