Volunteer Opportunity: Food Pantry

Are you concerned about food insecurity in the city of Manchester? Do you have a few hours to give once or twice a month? We are partnering with the First United Methodist Church of Manchester to help them with their food pantry distribution. They are located at 691 Valley St. Reverend Kali learned through her networking that they are struggling to keep up with demand, sometimes having to turn people away, especially in the later days of the month when food is running short and benefits are running low.

They distribute food every Tuesday from 8 AM to 11:30 AM, and they also go to the NH Food Bank on East Industrial Park Drive every Monday to pick up large amounts of food items to be distributed on Tuesday morning. They can use assistance with both of these tasks, and we are hoping to get a group of us together who can take a turn on a regular basis.

If you are interested, please email one of the Social Responsibility Committee co-chairs, Marge Goudreault at 24wins@comcast.net or Edna White, whireedn@yahoo.com, or see any member of the SR committee. We will also leave a sign up sheet on the SR table in the Fellowship Hall. If you don’t want to make a commitment, that is fine, we can just talk! Once we have a sense of how many of us are able to help out, we will work out a schedule with the FUMC and get our partnership going.
