CASA OF NH CASA Advocates are “the voice” for children involved in abuse/neglect cases, working closely with DCYF as well as the parents and foster parents (if children have been removed) and developing a personal relationship with the children. We keep the court informed of the progress of the children throughout a case, and most importantly, what resources and support a child needs from the court during the course of a case, doing our best to create an environment where they can thrive. In 2022, through nearly 90,000 volunteer hours, 642 CASA advocates have supported 1538 children and 946 families throughout NH, with 30% of those resources, families and children located in Hillsborough County. CASA’s Mission: CASA of NH provides a voice for abused and neglected children and youth by empowering a statewide network of trained volunteers to advocate on their behalf so they can thrive in safe, permanent homes.
MANCHESTER GROWS is a network of non-profit projects dedicated to providing
fresh produce to the community
WAYPOINT YOUTH RESOURCE CENTER. YRC helps runaway and homeless youth from 12-22. The YRC is a judgment-free safe zone where youth can drop in and receive everything from survival aid to services that can help to change the course of their lives. At the YRC, youths can get food, clothing, do laundry, take a shower, and get access to computers and phones. In addition, they can connect with staff who GET IT. They can get help to obtain documentation papers, connect to State benefits including Medicaid, and get access to education and vocational resources, physical and mental healthcare, and emergency shelter and housing options. Youth may also participate in life skills workshops and recreational activities and events.
NH COMMUNITY BAIL FUND. The NH Community Bail Fund frees people detained on low bail in Valley Street Jail and other NH prisons, people—often BIPOC, homeless and/or poor—whose only “crime” may be that they cannot afford the bail. NHCBF collaborates with faith and civic communities to pay the
bail and provide transportation and related support.
NH MUTUAL AID RELIEF FUND. NHMARF is a grassroots effort of working-class people who believe that direct action and solidarity are the best ways to meet the material and social needs of our community. They recognize that housing and food insecurity, as well as the barriers to mental and physical wellness our neighbors are experiencing, are due to a larger system of artificial scarcity that is inherent to capitalism. To combat this suffering, they come together in solidarity each week to freely distribute those material goods that our neighbors need to survive. 100% of proceeds are used to purchase snacks, first aid supplies, hygiene products, and more.
HOLY CROSS LEARNING CENTER offers English as a Second Language (ESL) for beginners and intermediates to the growing immigrant and refugee population of the Greater Manchester.
Holy Cross Family Learning Center is a place where people of diverse cultures from the City of Manchester, New Hampshire, come together to initiate or to continue their education. As part of this learning, they participate in helping to develop the Center as a place where family values are strengthened, community building is fostered, literacy is nourished, academic performance is raised, and
diversity respected and celebrated. HCFLC seeks to respond to the needs of the growing immigrant and refugee population of the Greater Manchester area especially on Manchester’s West Side.
Free classes improve speaking, listening, reading and writing in English, for adults 18 years or older, and not enrolled in high school. Every year it costs the Center an average of $280.00 to educate one student.
With every new student, our expenses increase. Your gift can ensure that services remain free for our new and veteran students.
