Fall 2022 Volunteer Training- VNA of Manchester and Southern NH
Make a difference in the lives of others by providing a supportive or spiritual presence to those facing a life-limiting illness. Volunteering for hospice can be rewarding and meaningful to both the patient and the volunteer. It offers opportunities for spiritual healing through companionship, prayer, scripture, music, life review as well as emotional support to families. No physical caregiving is required. All we ask for is your calming presence and serving heart. Visiting patients can take place during the day, early evenings, and weekends.
There are various ways to volunteer at the VNA. Volunteers can work directly with patients and their families by providing patient companionship/caregiver respite, singing in the VNA’s choir, pharmacy/grocery pick-up, sitting vigil, interviewing patients for Life’s Journey memoirs, and facilitating bereavement support. The VNA also has non-direct opportunities, including office and administrative support, helping with the bi-annual Memorial Service, handcrafting items and more.
VNA Manchester’s next 8-week hospice volunteer training program begins in October 2022, and interviews are beginning now. Please contact Ashley Springman at (603) 716-0082 or Aspringman@elliot-hs.org for more information or visit ww.manchestervna.org/volunteer to apply. Please note: Volunteers do not visit COVID+ environments and are fully trained on current COVID safety protocol(s) and use of Personal Protective Equipment.
The VNA of Manchester and Southern NH covers a large geographic area and we are especially in need of volunteers who reside in the outlying communities, such as of Pembroke, Milford, Nashua, Deerfield, and Epping. We also invite individuals trained and certified in alternative therapies, such as Reiki, Massage, Music, Art and Pet therapy to apply.
