Join the discussion of the UU Common Read: Defund Fear

“There is a growing consensus that our legal system serves very few of us while incarcerating too many of us.  The national is waking up to how bloated police budgets fail to keep us safe, with police who not only fail to prevent but actually perpetrate violent crime. But many of us were raised to believe that police and jails keep us safe.  Now that we realize they don’t, what comes next?”

As you might know, each year the UUA selects a common book to read.  This year’s selection is Defund Fear, by Zach Morris.  Here is the blurb cover text:

The Social Responsibility Committee has ten copies of this powerful book.  Sometime in the next few months we will schedule a remote discussion of the book.  Please let us know if you would like a copy and we will get it to you either in the mail or via delivery to your home.  The book will come to you free of charge, but we would love you to make an optional contribution to the New Hampshire Community Bail Fund, either by mailing a check to UU Action NH, Box 3862, Manchester NH 03105 or by going to: https://uuanh.salsalabs.org/2020NHBailandBondFundForm/index.html

If you send a check, please make it out to UU Action NH and put “Bail and Bond Fund” in the memo line.

Or you donate at the church website, specifying ‘”NH Bail and Bond Fund” as the recipient.

To receive the book, please email Curt Smith at blueskies3@comcast.net and provide your contact information.

Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.
