From Rabbi Beth Davidson of Temple Adath Yeshurun

We are all heartbroken, worried, concerned — fill in the blank.  Most of us have family and friends in Israel, and when emails aren’t returned right away we fear the worse.

In times of great evil, there are also moments of great good.  One woman left flowers on our doorstep, another dropped off a donation “For Israel.”  Everyday Manchester folk, and that gives me great hope.

Some of you asked what you can do.  Prayer is always appreciated! If you and your congregations want to make donations, the Magen David Edom, the Israeli version of the Red Cross, is overwhelmed.  You can reach them at afmda.org, the American affiliate.  HIAS, act.hias.org has just created a response fund that will work on both sides of the border.  Or a donation to any emergency respond group that will also aid both sides.
