Celebrate Peace

Sunday, September 28, 2025 1:00-2:00p

Concord Friends Meeting House – 11 Oxbow Pond Rd, Canterbury, NH

Join us in celebration of World Peace Day to envision peace as we dedicate our Peace Pole on the grounds of the Concord Friends Meeting House.

You are invited to join a short, interactive ceremony to help visualize peace, and consider how we can build a peaceful world.  The celebration ends with refreshments and fellowship. Plus, you will take home a paper crane made by our youth and their helpers!

Peace Poles originated in Japan 30 years after WWII. Today there are an estimated 250,000 Peace Poles which are found on every continent. Each pole is inscribed with the same message of “May Peace Prevail on Earth” but in diverse languages.

Peace is a cornerstone of Quaker faith which seeks to promote nonviolent resolutions to conflicts in communities and in the world. The peace pole is a silent reminder of the Quaker commitment to nonviolence, peace, and the desire to live with respect, compassion, and sharing.
